Moving House Means Leaving Home
Relocation can be very challenging and can have many effects on you and your family other than simple a change of address. Moving usually means leaving one job, and not always in exchange for a better one, or any kind of job at all. It also means leaving friends, neighbours, and the rest of the community that you and your loved ones have come to know and love. So consider the following before you decide how to move, or whether to move at all.
The Spouse or Partner
You may want to relocate because of a better job opportunity elsewhere, but can the same be said of your partner? Though he or she may not say it outright, the move may be a very difficult thing to accept.
Children love familiarity. Chances are they've grown attached to their friends, the house, and even their schools. They've more or less built their lives around these things (much more so than goal-oriented adults), so a move can be heartbreaking for them.
Having considered these, if you still want to move, then take steps to lessen the emotional and practical impacts of the big change.
